8 Days Private Tour From Casablanca To Sahara Dunes

Day 1: Casablanca – Fes

The tour begins as we meet you at the airport or your hotel in Casablanca. After a brief introduction to the city, we’ll begin our journey to Fes. En route, we’ll stop in Rabat, where you can explore historical sites such as Hassan Tower and the Royal Palace. Continue the journey through Meknes, where we will visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis. These ancient ruins are an excellent example of Roman architecture, showcasing intricate mosaics and well-preserved structures. Arriving in Fes, you’ll check in to a traditional Moroccan riad, where you’ll spend your first night, allowing you to rest and adjust to the local time zone.

Day 2: Exploring Fes

After a hearty breakfast, your day in Fes begins with a walking tour of the old city. Fes el-Bali, the historic center of the city, is a maze of narrow streets and alleys filled with vibrant shops and hidden gems. Your guide will lead you to important landmarks such as the Royal Palace Gate, the Al Qaraouine University, and the Jewish Quarter. We’ll also visit the famous tanneries, where leather goods are still crafted using methods dating back centuries. In the afternoon, you will visit a local tile cooperative, where artisans handcraft intricate mosaics that have made Moroccan tilework famous. To end the day, enjoy a panoramic view of the entire medina from a hilltop, providing a breathtaking perspective of this ancient city.

Day 3: Fes – Merzouga: Camel Ride in Erg Chebbi Dunes

Today, we head south from Fes towards the Sahara Desert, with several scenic stops along the way. First, we stop in Ifrane, often called “Little Switzerland” due to its alpine architecture and surroundings. We continue to Azrou, where you’ll have the chance to see the famous Barbarian apes in the cedar forests. After lunch in Midelt, we continue the journey, passing through the Tizi Ntalghamt Pass and Ziz Gorge, offering magnificent views. As you approach Merzouga, the desert landscape gradually changes, providing glimpses of the Sahara. After reaching Merzouga, you will be welcomed with mint tea at a local guesthouse before embarking on a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi Dunes, one of the largest sand dunes in the world. Once at the desert camp, enjoy the magnificent sunset and spend the night in traditional Berber tents, complete with a warm meal and Berber drum music around the campfire.

Day 4: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

After waking up early, you’ll have the opportunity to witness a stunning Sahara sunrise as the light transforms the dunes into an ever-changing landscape. Return to Merzouga on your camel, where you’ll enjoy a traditional breakfast and a hot shower before continuing your journey. Drive to Tinghir and explore the Todra Gorges, one of Morocco’s most spectacular natural wonders. These towering cliffs are known for their dramatic height and narrow width, making for an awe-inspiring sight. After lunch in the gorge, we’ll head to the Dades Valley, often referred to as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.” The valley is dotted with traditional kasbahs (fortresses), and we’ll stop to photograph the sand castles and the peculiar ‘monkey toes’ rock formations. Spend the night in a charming guesthouse with stunning views of the valley.

Day 5: Dades Valley – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Marrakech

On the fifth day, we continue through the Dades Valley, passing through Kalaat Mgouna and Skoura, famous for their lush oases and kasbahs. After stopping for a photo session, we drive to Ouarzazate, known as the Hollywood of Africa due to its use as a filming location for movies such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. After lunch, we’ll visit the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, one of the most iconic and well-preserved fortified cities in Morocco. Continuing through the Tizi n’ Tichka Pass over the High Atlas Mountains, you’ll enjoy magnificent mountain views. We also make a stop at an argan oil cooperative before reaching Marrakech in the late afternoon. Enjoy a relaxing evening in the vibrant medina, staying in a traditional riad.

Day 6: Marrakech

Today is dedicated to exploring the ancient and vibrant city of Marrakech. Start with a visit to the Majorelle Gardens, a peaceful oasis filled with exotic plants and colorful architecture. From there, head to the Koutoubia Tower, an iconic landmark of the city, followed by the Saadian Tombs and the Bahia Palace, both offering a glimpse into Morocco’s royal past. After lunch at a local restaurant near Jemaa el-Fna Square, wander through the famous souks, where you’ll find everything from spices to textiles and pottery. In the afternoon, you’ll have free time to explore on your own, perhaps enjoying a traditional Moroccan tea at a local café or visiting the Marrakech Museum.

Day 7: Marrakech – Essaouira Day Excursion

On the seventh day, you’ll travel to Essaouira, a charming coastal city located on the Atlantic Ocean. This city is famous for its well-preserved 18th-century medina, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Take a stroll along the seafront ramparts and explore the local markets, known for their fish, artisan crafts, and vibrant blue-and-white buildings. The strong Alizée winds make Essaouira a popular destination for surfing and kitesurfing, so you may choose to engage in one of these activities or simply relax on the beach. After a full day in Essaouira, return to Marrakech in the evening.

Day 8: Transfer to Airport

After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to Morocco. We will transfer you to the Marrakech Airport for your return flight, marking the end of your unforgettable adventure across the diverse landscapes and cultures of Morocco.
